The “artist’s book”
These black and white lithographs are the backbone of the artist’s book: “16 Figures” .
She was inspired by the choreographer Serge Ricci and his dancers.
In 2001, Raphaèle Bernard-Bacot asked several writers to produce literary works inspired by her drawings so as to create a collective work. The originality of the project consists of organising a free competition entitled “16 figures in search of an author ” on the internet in cooperation with the Destampes gallery, devoted to artists engravers. The jury selected 18 texts out of 122 candidates. The artist’s book 16 Figures was published in a limited-edition – 30 copies on Vélin de Rives paper bound in 16 booklets each containing one lithography accompanied by a poem.
It has been acquired by the Centre Nationale de Danse à Pantin (Paris).
The book is available at the Blomet’s Bookshop in Paris.
